RESTYLANE®
Long lasting cosmetic filler restores lost volume and fullness to facial wrinkles

WHAT IS RESTYLANE?
Restylane is a safe, natural cosmetic filler FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Composed of hyaluronic acid, a sugar found naturally in the skin, Restylane is biodegradable and biocompatible. Allery testing is not required. Depending on treatment area, patients can expect results to last 6-12 months - and potentially longer with one follow-up treatment.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Any healthy individual with no serious medical problems may be a good candidate. If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, you should not use Restylane.

WHAT CAN RESTYLANE TREAT?
Restylane is especially effective for treating wrinkles and folds. It is most commonly used to improve the nasolabial folds (the lines extending from the nose to the corners of the mouth) and to add volume to lips, although other areas of the face can be treated as well.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
Restylane is injected into the skin by an ultrafine needle. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, topical or local anesthesia may be used. Results are virtually instantaneous.

HOW LONG WILL THE RESULTS LAST?
Restylane typically lasts 6 to 12 months. Many patients find that having an additional treatment before the product has fully dissipated prolongs the results.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Swelling or bruising may occur, although this usually subsides within several days. Avoiding aspirin, Vitamin E, St. John's Wort, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications such as Advil, Motrin, and Aleve will minimize the possibility of bruising. At SkinCare Pyhsicians & Surgeons, only highly experienced board-certified physicians and certified nurse practitioners administer Restylane.

HOW IS RESTYLANE DIFFERENT THAN DYSPORT OR BOTOX?
Restylane is a cosmetic filler that restores lost volume and lifts specific facial features. Dysport and Botox relax facial muscles - smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Dysport and Botox eliminate the underlying root cause of the wrinkle, while Restylane fills in the wrinkle. Restylane is often combined with Dysport or Botox for optimal aesthetic results.

AESTHETIC INJECTABLES - HOW ARE THEY DIFFERENT?

  • Botox and Dysport relax facial muscles - smoothing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Dermal fillers such as Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm®, and Sculptra® are used to restore lost volume and lift specific facial features - creating a youthful appearance.
  • Other facial injectables such as Sculptra® are naturally and gradually absorbed by the body, stimulating the formation of new collagen. These fillers restore volume and fullnes and are especially effective for treating shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds.
