LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Remove excessive or unwanted hair from virtually any part of the body and face

WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
At SkinCare Physicians & Surgeons, we use the state-of-the-art Lightsheer Diode laser to effectively remove excessive or unwanted hair from virtually any part of the body and face. Specifically designed to remove unwanted hair, the Lightsheer laser specifically targets the pigment located in the root of hair follicles, thereby destroying it.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Although the ideal candidate has dark hair and fair skin, those individuals with darker skin tones and tans can also be effectively treated. Currently, Laser Hair Removal is not effective for blonde, gray, or red hair.

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?
The Lightsheer laser feels like the snap of a rubber-band. Typically, no anesthesia or pain medication is required, although some patients may prefer to use a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are treated. Immediately following your treatment, the area may appear a bit red and swollen. Do not pluck or wax your hair between treatments since the laser targets the hair root, but shaving is permissible.

WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED?
The Lightsheer laser can remove hair from virtually any part of the body, including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. It can also treat sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, and bikini line.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NEEDED?
Most areas require 4 to 6 treatments. However, the number of laser treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on many different factors - hair thickness, the area treated and your hair's growth cycle. Laser treatment for hair removal works by targeting hair follicles in the active growth phase. Since not all hairs are in this phase at the same time, more than one treatment is necessary to achieve the best results.

HOW IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL DIFFERENT FROM OTHER HAIR REMOVAL METHODS?
Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated frequently. Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into each individual hair and delivering an electrical charge to destroy the hair, one at a time. This often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. Laser Hair Removal treats numerous follicles simultaneously and specifically targets the hair root to impede the follicle's ability to regrow.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Immediately after the treatment, the area may be a bit red and swollen. This usually resolves within several hours or less. Most people return to normal activity right away.
