How Does BOTOX® Cosmetic Work?
BOTOX® is a purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium. This natural purified protein in low doses relaxes overactive muscles that cause frown lines between the brows to form over time. BOTOX® has been safely used to treat a variety of conditions including lazy eye in young children for more than 10 years.

BOTOX® treatments cause little if any discomfort and the entire treatment takes only 10 minutes or less. No anesthesia is required, although patients may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. Most patients describe the sensation comparable to a bug bite. Most people return to work or normal activity immediately. It is best to avoid alcohol and remain upright for several hours following the procedure.
