Healthier Skin, Almost Overnight
Chemical peels can make a real difference in the treatment of wrinkles around the eyes and mouth, skin discoloration, and a dull complexion. Even after one peel, you will notice improvement in your skin’s texture and tone, lessening of fine lines, and a healthier more youthful appearance. SkinCare Physicians & Surgeons are highly experienced with the use of both Vitalize and Beta-lift peels, as well as glycolic acid peels. Ask about the SkinCare Physicians & Surgeons “10 Weeks to Healthy Skin” – a series of 3 peels that has been proven to deliver exceptional results for fine lines, darkened pigmentation, and acne scars.
How Do Chemical Peels Work?
The quick, 20 minute procedure involves application of a chemical solution to remove outer layers of aged, discolored and/or irregular skin. Fresh skin is then generated, which is usually smoother, less wrinkled and more even in color. It is safe to lightly apply make-up immediately following your chemical peel so you leave the office with a healthy glow – and no downtime!
What happens after treatment?
Your skin may look and feel like a mild windburn for the next two or three days prior to peeling. After 48 hours, a slight flaking may occur, which can easily be controlled with a mild moisturizer. Let the skin shed at its own rate to avoid scarring or rashes. Do not pull or peel shedding skin.
Following your chemical peel, your skin may be more sensitive to sun exposure. Take extra precautions by using sunscreen with SPF 20 or higher. We recommend limiting sun exposure for at least one week after your peel to avoid damaging your freshly peeled skin. Many ingredients in foundations are greasy, fragranced and can be irritating; therefore foundation should not be worn after a chemical peel or during the days when the skin is actually peeling.
Peeling should be complete in about 7 days after which your skin should look clearer and smoother and the use of normal skin care products can resume.
