Take Years Off Your Look
As the amount of collagen and elastin in your skin decrease with age, wrinkles, jowls and sagging eye lids are the natural result. Why accept the aging process when you can look like you, only better. Dr. Tse and her team can give you dramatic improvement under local anesthesia, avoiding the risks associated with general anesthesia and a long recuperation.
Dr. Tse can also lift sagging eye lids for a more youthful look. The results are impressive.
What is a Mini Face Lift?
A mini face lift improves the sagging of skin on the lower face (jowls) and neck. The procedure is designed to restore the clean, straight jawline you had in your youth. The mini face lift can be performed under local anesthesia, which results in a quicker recovery. General anesthesia can also be used if that is preferred by the patient. To begin the procedure, the area is numbed with local anesthesia and then the excess fat underneath the chin is removed by tumescent liposculpture. If there is no fat, then the skin is simply separated from the underlying tissue. The superficial muscles of the neck and lower face are gently tightened and the loose, excess skin is surgically removed. The taut skin is held with carefully placed stitches on the inside and behind the ear. Dr. Tse and her team take great care to ensure that the result will be natural looking, avoiding the “too tight” look that some surgeons prefer. Natural contours of the lower face and neck are restored, turning back the clock 5 to 10 years.
What is an Eyelid Lift (Blepharoplasty)?
An eyelid lift improves sagging eyelids that often create a tired, aged look. By lifting the skin on your eyelids, more of your upper eyelid will show, creating a brighter look and resulting in a larger area to apply eye makeup. The procedure begins with local anesthesia, although general anesthesia can be used if requested by the patient. The excess skin is precisely removed following the natural contours of your eye. Extra care is given so that the shape of your eye is not changed.
To address under eye “bags” that also occur with age, excess fat is removed from the inside of the eye. The key advantage of this approach is that there are no stitches or scars in the highly visible under eye area. If the skin of the lower eyelid is loose, then a laser may be used in addition to help tighten this skin.
What Happens After Treatment?
Following a mini face lift, stitches are usually removed 7 to 10 days after the procedure is performed. Any bruising or swelling will subside in a week’s time. Special care to apply sunscreen is recommended to protect against future sun damage.
Following an eyelid lift, stitches in the natural crease of your eye will be removed in 5 to 6 days. The skin of the eyes heals faster than anywhere else on the body, so this procedure is typically fully healed by the time the stitches are removed. Bruising and swelling should be expected since the skin of the eyes is very fragile, but these are very temporary and usually subside in about a week.
